The Chief Engineer is recognized as a technical expert and thought leader inside and outside of GE HealthCare that shapes the technical vision of the organizations, taking into consideration both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The Chief Engineer drives global technology and innovation strategies as well as product architecture and advanced technology planning initiatives and lead technical design reviews for strategic advanced technologies.

Responsibilities

The Point of Care and Handheld Ultrasound Chief Engineer is responsible for the technology leadership of the Point of Care and Handheld portfolio, and for the vitality of the global technology team. Key deliverables include:

• As a domain expert, interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Utilizes understanding of industry trends to inform decision making process and leverages domain expertise to improve designs of team members within/across the business
• Responsible for identifying and driving technology roadmap for Point of Care and Handheld ultrasound.
• Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down.
• Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system.
• Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing. Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams. Manages interface between components and execution organizations.
• Works with global development teams to ensure architectures support product performance at the right cost.
• Responsible for identifying, coordinating and driving technology development projects and uses analysis tools (market, strategy, etc.) technical knowledge, and cross-functional and business networks to anticipate and address customer needs (CTQs)
• Participates in Clinical Advisory Board meetings, establishing feedback loops from customers.
• Interprets markets and developing trends, to define new CTQs. Drives technology and/or manufacturing process alternatives that result in disruptive cost positions.

• Influences modality teams with new technology, architecture, and performance tradeoffs to achieve game-changing cost effect designs technologies delivered to the business.
• Represents GE HealthCare at external conferences and brings knowledge of external best practices into GE HealthCare to shape continuous improvements on processes and tools.

• Model the GEHC Culture Operating Principles in their personal leadership style and behavior, and mentors principal engineers and architects.
• Ensuring work safety and compliance with all regulatory requirements with total appreciation for GE HealthCare’s Quality Management System

• Owns/influences budgets and operating plans
• Communicates complex messages and negotiates mainly internally with others to adopt a different point of view. Influences peers to take action and may negotiate with external partners, vendors, or customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MS or PhD in Engineering or Physics or equivalent experience
• Strategic planner and thinker with ability to drive change across the business, products and industry. Experience driving technology and business planning processes with a focus on differentiation and financial return.
• External focus. Understands the customer and market and is able to translate the opportunities into concrete actions.
• Proven competency in key business tools such as Change Acceleration (CAP), LEAN, etc.
